Hololive Brings a New Twist to Traditional Japanese Card Game With Holo's Hanafuda

Gemdrops launched hololive Holo's Hanafuda on July 31, a new game that merges the traditional Japanese game, hanafuda, with popular Hololive VTubers. Blending the traditional with modern pop culture, the game with allows players to choose an adventure mode and enjoy stories that feature their favorite VTubers. hololive Holo's Hanafuda is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.

The first DLC pack is scheduled to be released on August 21, 2025.

Alongside the traditional card game, the game features a bento-making experience where players can use their earned points from the card game to create their very own bento boxes, which are tradable with other players.

Hanafuda is a traditional card game that is well known for its unique and intricate illustrations of nature, often flowers and plants that represent the 12 months of the year, with layers of history threaded through them.

This game also has a variety of assist functions to help players out and teach them more about the hanafuda rules.

Hololive characters currently featured

The first wave of downloadable content that has already been announced and will add the hololive casts Subaru Oozora and Okayu Nekomata to the game. The DLC will also include the background story and music for the two characters.

The digital version of the hololive Holo's Hanafuda game is priced at 3,850 yen (est. $25), with a physical edition for the Switch that is priced at 5,280 yen (est.$36). A special limited edition package costs 16,500 yen (est. $111). Itincludes a set of hanafuda cards, an artbook, soundtrack CD, stickers, and other extras.
