Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina Gets Anime Movie
Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina is getting an anime movie (theatrical anime), as announced at today's GA FES stage dedicated to the series. The first season of the TV anime aired in the Fall 2020 season.
Kaede Hondo, who voices the titular Elaina, and Tomoyo Kurosawa (Saya) delivered the news. Hondo is narrating the announcement video.
Studio C2C animated the adaptation of a light novel written by Jogi Shiraishi and illustrated by Azure. The light novel has been serialized since 2016 under SB Creative's GA Novel imprint. A manga adaptation by Itsuki Nanao was serialized from 2018 to 2024 on Square Enix's Manga Up! service.
Author Shiraishi commented on the news:
To everyone who messaged me on my X or replied asking, “When will there be a sequel?”—there will be a sequel to the Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina. So no need to ask anymore! And it's a movie! A movie! I'm overjoyed that the film adaptation, which has been steadily progressing behind the scenes with the help of many wonderful adults, can finally be shared with all of you.
Getting this far was only possible thanks to the cooperation of so many people. There are so many I want to thank, I don't even know which way to turn when I sleep. Anyway, as both the author and a fan of the Wandering Witch anime, I'm excited!
